Anthony Robbins' Use Of Nlp

Anthony Robbins has become known to millions through his many "infomercials". He is one of the most well known self-help coaches in the world today. From his humble start in life he has risen to become very successful in the field of helping others to improve their lives through inner growth. His best-selling books, numerous video products, and seminars held around the world have helped millions of people realize the potential they have within themselves. He promotes having a healthy and energetic body, becoming a confident speaker, developing good relationships with others, and getting rid of deeply-held fears that thwart our growth as human beings. Tony Robbins' method involves several different techniques. Primarily, he uses NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and various forms of hypnosis to help people remove fears that inhibit their personal growth. He has excellent communication skills, and he uses his power of persuasion to move people in a positive direction. Tony came from rather humble beginnings, but has been able to create a veritable empire. This is quite an accomplishment. He started out in a sales job, where he learned the importance of being persuasive. He began reading books about personal development and growth. He came to understand the importance of confidence and having a positive attitude. Then, in 1983, Robbins became interested in the NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) process. This was a relatively new technique which involved changing the unconscious patterns of thought that stifle growth. By eliminating these patterns, a person can almost instantly obtain a positive attitude, which leads to growth and achievement. Tony was able to study the NLP principles from one of its co-founders, John Grinder. Using these ideas that deal with increasing human potential, Tony has been able to create an enormously successful life for himself. As a teacher of these techniques he helped many other people to achieve their goals. Using NLP as a starting point, Robbins developed a process called "NAC" - Neuro Associative Conditioning. He preferred the term "Conditioning", because this implies that the person has more of a role n the process. "Programming" makes it appear that the change can be made by someone from the outside, without much personal responsibility. Robbins was attracted to NLP and NAC because they are so useful in the process of promoting his ideas of self-realization. He was able to bring these principles to a very wide audience through his radio and TV appearances. Since he is such a public figure, Tony has been criticized for being merely a commercial showman. But many people have seen real changes in their lives as a result of his teaching. He has proven that his techniques work. Early in his career he was challenged by a psychologist to try his method on one of his patients in front of a live audience. He was able to rid this woman of her fear of snakes in a single session. It's difficult to argue with concrete success. By: Seminar Review
