For example, if you want your friend Steve to pass the salt on the table, saying, "Steve, please pass me the salt" is more effective than just, "Please pass the salt."

Calling a person by his or her name is similar to a call to action. Just don't overdo it so much because then this NLP technique will lose its magic.
